Kiesland, Ltd. has been selected by Cleveland-based NBW, Inc. to provide design and construction services for a new steam boiler plant at Cognis’ Winton Place (Cincinnati) facility.
The project includes a 14,000 square foot new building, tank farm, fuel unloading facilities and related site improvements. Cognis Oleochemicals, LLC plans to install four (4) new state of the art boilers, replacing four (4) now in use.
The new boilers will be capable of burning natural gas, fuel oil and other alternative fuels, unlike the plant’s current main boiler, which is coal-fired. The company said the new boilers could reduce emissions by as much as a third over the existing boilers, which date from the 1970s.
Engineering and site preparation work is currently underway with completion scheduled for late 2006. |
