Cassie Gambill Q&A: From Jack-of-All-Trades to Kiesland’s Trusted Problem-Solver
Cassie Gambill’s story is one of adaptability, initiative, and quiet leadership. In this blog post, we explore her professional journey from administrative assistant to project coordinator at Kiesland, where she’s become an indispensable team member through her organizational skills, problem-solving mindset, and entrepreneurial spirit. A single mother and former small business owner, Cassie brings a unique blend of life experience, humility, and determination to her work, balancing multiple projects while staying grounded in her values. This Q&A reflects the power of saying “yes” to new challenges and the strength of being flexible and fiercely committed.
Q. Tell me a little bit about your background. You joined Kiesland as an administrative assistant, but that role didn’t feel perfect for you. Why?
A. I was bored. My office was next to Rich’s (Kiesland’s President Rich Hughes), so I kept popping in, asking if I could help. I was curious and driven and wanted to take on more hands-on project work, meet clients and subcontractors, and ultimately manage my jobs. But I knew my title was going to be a hindrance. I told Rich, ‘I don’t think clients will feel confident in me if they see that title.’ That conversation resulted in a new title—Project Coordinator—and my first raise, less than a year into the job.
Q. You’re naturally driven, having previously been a small business owner and bookkeeper, all while raising three daughters. That sounds like a master class in multitasking.
A. It certainly forces you to be resourceful and reliable. One of my strengths is being able to adjust – whatever needs to get done, I’ll figure it out. I don’t doubt my ability to dive in and solve a problem, even if I don’t know where to start. I once owned a food truck and built that business from the ground up. I loved it – creating the menus, doing the budgeting. It taught me a lot about operations and cost management. And I owned a lawncare business in my 20s, so you could say that I have an entrepreneurial spirit. Being a single mother to my daughters, I’ve always had to multitask and figure things out. Maybe that’s why I’m a little like a Swiss army knife. I’ve done a little bit of everything.
Q. Family is such a huge part of your mission and life. How does Kiesland fit into that philosophy?
A. I give Kiesland everything I’ve got while I’m here, but I’ve got another life outside these walls. I’m here to love people, be present, and take care of my family. And at Kiesland, we’re professional, but we’re personal, too. It feels like family here. We’re not treated the way that a corporation may treat its people. But outside of work, being a mother fills my soul. I’m a passionate home cook and a baking enthusiast with a very active sourdough starter. Those days of being an entrepreneur can be inspiring. I sometimes dream about opening a small sourdough bakery and salad concept. It’s something that’s always in the back of my mind.
Q. Tell me about some of your favorite projects that you’ve worked on for Kiesland and its client-partners.
A. I love projects that break the mold, especially when I get to be a part of something innovative. One standout was The Brickery Cafe, a creative concept where visitors could rent, build, and return LEGO sets or host parties. It was such an original and community-focused venue. I’ve also worked extensively on medical projects, including a tenant improvement for Mira Precision Health, a woman-led company offering advanced genetic testing. I like working on these kinds of projects because it allows me to support meaningful ventures that serve the community in new ways.

Q. What would you say is your ‘magic’? What is your special trait that makes you a unique part of Kiesland?
A. It’s organization! It’s knowing how to move from one thing to the next without panicking. And the best part of being at Kiesland is that we have a team that values collaboration, communication, and genuine relationships. For my part, I know that no matter what comes up on a project or in our office, I’ll figure it out.
